  1. you can try planting large grasses such as gulf muhly or similar.  It will grow quickly and you can grow them in pots and it makes a thick screen

  2. Hi:

You will want to think about planting some evergreen shrubs along your back yard for some privacy. There are some plant specimens that will do fine in containers. Container gardens are becoming very popular today. Here are a few suggestions:

    Deroots Arborvitae

    Lemon Thread Cypress

    Loropetalum

    Some Holly Varieties

All of these will need some good size containers, but will grow fairly fast and give you a nice privacy screen. You can also add some perennial or annual flowers around the shrubs. Put the shrubs in the center of the containers. Add your flowers around the shrub and even add a few plugs of ivy. A great look for a container garden and also create privacy for your backyard.

I will link you to the gallery of plants section as well as the variety of more plants. These plants above are in these section as well as other plant specimens. I hope this information helps, and good luck to you. Have a great day!

  3. My friend put some small wood posts in the ground and attached a green mesh ( like you would use for an awning to shade an area).  It worked perfectly to give privacy and it cost very little.  The plants would have taken a while to grow.  He put the mesh at eye-level , not all the way to the ground.  That way it wasn't bothered so much by the wind or rain.

Privacy is good.  I hope you own your own house soon so you can do whatever you want.  I thought i would be a renter my whole life but i own my home.  I just raised my fence by 12 inches and now i like it even better.

  4. You need a climbing vine that you can plant in large containers, like ivy, clematis, morning glory, roses...anything that will climb.  String wire on poles between the pots so the vines will climb it.  They will make a nice green and sometimes flowery screen.

  5. Bamboo!!

There are plenty hardy varieties, for either shade or sun...a very versatile plant, and they'll give you an exotic look as well.  (And many are so fast-running, that it's actually advisable to have them contained like that)
