  1. I really don't want to poo pooh some of your answers....BUT NOT ONE PERSON can tell you exactly what they are since we have no picture to go by.

There are 30+ plus varities and some are very similar in looks. Open Link Below to see.

  2. They are the German Prune (Fellenburg) type. My Uncle is good with plums so trust me.

    Hope this helps..x

  3. Know way of knowing without a picture. It could be a young tree or a mature one on a dwarfing rootstock.  Plums will fruit every year.

  4. They could be Damsons.  Good for making into pies and crumbles, but also makes a good "cheese".  Boil them up until all juice runs, strain through a fine sieve to take out stones and skins.  Measure juice left over and add 1lb sugar to each pint of juice.  Boil up until setting point is reached. Pot into sterile jars and keep.  Makes lovely jam to use in cakes, sandwiches.

Setting point is reached when a small drop of the jelly dropped onto a cold saucer and left for about a minute in trhe fridge wrinkles up when you push it with your finger.  Sterile jars easy to do in the microwave.  Put about 1/3 of water in and m/wave on high until you can see it bubbling.  Empty and turn upside down to dry., then use.  Put lids on when all jelly is cold (next day probably).  Nice as gifts for friends with a gingham lid cover..

  5. Without a picture it's difficult to say what it is. Possibly a wild plum tree. Once the fruit is picked or eaten by animals it won't produce again until next year.  Wild plums are good to eat, athough in some people they can cause diarrhea. They are great for making jellies and jams. The trees don't grow very big. ;)
