Contamination from an accident at a nuclear power plant is devastating to a small area and damaging to a wider area.

Air pollution from burning fossil fuels affects our air quality and can damage the atmosphere with serious consequences.

Water pollution can spread far from its source and affect everything it touches.

I guess I would have to say that nuclear contamination is the most risky pollution.

Air pollution is the most dangerous in my opinion. Everyone has to breathe, so everyone is exposed to air pollutants. You avoid the other types of pollutants by: drinking bottled water, noise insulation, don't go swimming, etc.

Also, there appears to be so many air pollutants that can cause harm. For instance, small particulate matter can lodge deep into your lungs to cause respiratory disease, or cancer. Smog is formed when cars or factories emit certain polutants (nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds) in the presence of the sun. Carbon dioxide has been shown to cause global warming. Sulfur dioxide from coal-fired power plants can cause acid rain. Mercury from those same coal-fired power plants deposit into rivers and streams, and poison fish.

You can go on and on and on. It's a fascinating field
