What kind of power adapter do I need to get in order to use an Australian hair dryer in the US?

Bought a hair dryer on e-bay from Australian seller. What type of power inverter do I need?

  1. You can get one from Radio Shack for around $30, probably cheaper to just buy a new blowdryer.

Australia has 220 volts and the US has 110 volts.  You'd need a converter to change the 110 volts to 220 volts.  Something similar to the device at the link below.  But as the other answer points out, it's probably cheaper to buy a hair dryer in the US.  They go for about $20.00 and the converter costs about $70.00 for one that will handle the power of a hair dryer.  Most hair dryers are around 1200 watts and the converter has to be able to handle it.
