  1. The power of greyskull

  2. She dosen't, but you can't say she does.

She is the one who sits on her **** all day doing nothing.

Then when the Primeminister has a new law or anything along those lines, she HAS to sign them for it to go into effect.

Therefore, neither the Primeminister or the Queen have power without each other.

  3. The Queen is a figurehead, but theoretically can take over the Government if the PM turned out to be a psycho.

    (like Bushy-Boy)

She could order a Nuclear Attack on anyone if she felt like it, but as long as she keeps getting her cucumber sandwiches on time we should be fine.

Also she provides a really confidential sounding board to the PM every week.

  4. " Not a lot , she has a goverment for that "

  5. I DONT THINK THE QUEEN HOLDS..POWER..I THINK ITS THE PRIME MINISTER NOW!

  6. The British monarchy is a system of government in which a hereditary monarch is the sovereign of the United Kingdom and its overseas territories, and holds the now constitutional position of head of state. According to convention, the Queen's powers are exercised upon the advice of her prime minister. She does however possess certain reserve powers which she may exercise at her own discretion.

In the UK, the Queen has numerous theoretical personal prerogatives. In practice, however, with the exception of the appointment of a prime minister, which is done with every prime minister, there are few circumstances in modern British government where these could be justifiably exercised; they have rarely been exercised in the last century. These powers could be exercised in an emergency such as a constitutional crisis. The monarch's personal prerogatives are:

    - The refusal to dissolve Parliament when requested by the Prime Minister.

    - To appoint a Prime Minister of her own choosing.

    - The dismissal of a Prime Minister and his Government on the Monarch's own authority.

    - The refusal of the Royal Assent.

    - The refusal of the "Queen's Consent," where direct monarchical assent is required for a bill affecting, directly or by implication, the prerogative, hereditary revenues—including ultimus haeres, treasure trove, and bona vacantia—or the personal property or interests of the Crown to be heard in Parliament.

  7. she could either approve or deny new laws

  8. None, because the last Queen of England, Anne, ceased to be such in 1707 when Great Britain was created.

  9. Enough to open the eyelids

  10. I think you'll find she's the queen of Great Britain, not just England,  and she doesn't really have any power.  She's just a figurehead.  The real power lies with the government.

  11. Before any law is passed, she has to say it's ok... she always does but she does have the power to stop a new law from forming.

  12. Strictly speaking, the Queen has a fair amount of power, many of the laws giving reigning monarchs power over the centuries have not been repealed, its just that since the civil war, parliament tends to have the say, and the government in power at the time has most of the power.  However, they actually pledge to serve the king or queen, as do the armed forces and a whole host of other civil servants.  So actually there is a lot she could do, I think she can even demand tohave people executed, but only for treason, and these days, it would have to be proven in a court of law.

The Queen acts mainly as a head of state now, rather than any kind of politician, though I think she is one of the best politicians we have had for a long time.  Neither she, nor any of the royal family are likely to expend the little power they do have, but they technically could.

  13. She has the last say on the use of our Military forces, she opens parliament, and she can have you done for killing a swan. They're all hers you know, kinda selfish I recon....  :)

  14. i honestly respect and honour her majesty as a cultural unification and a stable role model. she is a personification of british history. GOD SAVE THE QUEEN

  15. she is just a figure head and has to go to Parliament if she wants to do anything. When there was an empire and it was breaking up, some of those countries were happy to keep her as thier figurehead...such as Canada, New Zealand, Australia and some of the african countries.

It did make me laugh to think of her as a dictator...just got a mental picture of her in fatigues!! Not going to go there again...that was kinda scary!! lol

I think it very unlikely that they themselves would become dictators although the family could be used as some kind of puppet I guess...

Hope this answers this for you

  16. the queen bee

  17. To abolish the government

and tell them what to do when she wants

  18. There is no such person as such.

  19. She holds Ultimate power in the country. The people elect their Representative (The Prime minister), who then runs the country on the Queens behalf. The Prime minister has regular meetings with the Queen who advises him in the running of the country.

  20. She uses 230 volts the same as the rest of us.

  21. little or no power but lots and loads of money

  22. Very little. The only time she'd be given any choice was if there was a dead heat in a General Election (extremely unlikely), then she'd be allowed to choose which party leader she would ask to try and form a Government first. Of course if the person she chose couldn't then she's be obliged to ask the other Party leader.

  23. She holds no power. Her position is wholly as a figurehead.

  24. None whatsoever, she is just a figure head.

  25. Her duties are mainly ceremonial.

She is the commander in chief of the armed forces and the head of the Church of England.

She knights people who have contributed a lot to their industry and are outstanding in their field.

  26. She can fly and has xray vision.
