What kind of programs, education, housing options for birth mothers considering adoption instead of abortion?

Hi,

We are a couple in Arizona that are looking into the different housing options for birth mothers. After considering abortion, and deciding against it, we ran across a website www.adopthelp.com that offers to pay for an apartment for the birth mother. We only found one place offering this and were wondering if there are any other resources out there for potential birth mothers? We are primarily concerned with having a roof over our head during the pregnancy. Has anyone out there had any experience with these types of agencies?

  1. Here is a link to a search that I did:

    http://www.optionline.org/advantage.asp?...

These are pregnancy crisis  centers in Arizona that can give referrals for housing, and help council you, ect. Hope this helps.

  2. These options should actually be done away with unless it is CLEARLY STATED that in exchange for the housing, the mother does not have to pay it back if she doesn't place the child for adoption.  However, that's not the goal of these type of setups.  It's still a form of buying a baby by isolating the mother.

  3. If you want to know the true colors of an agency ask them if they'll help you during the pregnancy if you plan to KEEP your child. Agencies are a business built on providing babies to couples, they don't want to help women do anything BUT surrender. Which PROOVES that they're not in it for the best interests of the child. Be careful who you trust with the life of your child.

BTW If you're pregnant YOU'RE NOT A BIRTHMOTHER. You are an expecting mother. You haven't given birth, and you haven't surrendered your child to adoption.

  4. We adopted our daughter through LDS Family Services.  They offer wonderful help to birthparents considering adoption.  You can go to the website to find out more information.

  5. if you find someone to adopt like they can then find a place for to live

  6. Be careful putting this information out on this site.  There are MANY people on here who are vultures looking for a birth mother, and you have your email listed.

I am just looking out for your best interest.  Your best bet would be to contact social services for your area, which will help you get a place to live, etc.

    Good luck.

  7. Agencies generally won't advertise paying for an apartment etc, but the adoptive parents are allowed to help with maternity related expenses. This means they can help pay your rent, pay for transportation, medical bills, groceries, etc. But they cannot buy you a car, give you a gold watch etc.

You would most likely want to find adoptive parents who are willing to help with these expenses, since from what I know the agency itself doesn't do that (but it will match you with birthparents and help you figure out what they can and cannot pay for). You are not restricted to an agency in Az. We live in Ca, and adopted a baby in Ga. The important thing is to work with a reputable agency, and find parents you feel would provide the right upbringing to your child. We worked with adoptionconnection.org in San Francisco.

You can also find perspective adoptive parents online through various agencies and services. I would ask for references from other birthmoms before choosing an agency to make sure the agency will respect your wishes/decisions. You can try searching for "dear birthmother" or "waiting families" to find potential parents.
