  1. To put this size pond in perspective - this pond is the equivalent of quantity ~90~ - "30 gallon water heaters"...

    A nice size pond....

IMHO - for a pond this size - I would suggest two pumps.

This would provide for redundancy - should one pump fail - which is quite possible over the lifetime of a pond - and pumps that are running 24/7.  The last chore a pond-owner wants to be faced with - is replacing a dead pump in the middle of a frigid winter - so as to keep your over-wintering Koi alive.

I think that two (QUAN 2) 3000 GPM pumps would work nicely here to keep the water crystal clear and add redundancy in the case of failure.

I assume you are building a new pond?

  2. a pond at this size use gravity fed to the filter the pump is only put in the filter to suck clean water back to the pond.  Buy a powerful pump with low wattage.

  5. You could get the Tetra Pond GPX-1500 Amphibious Water Garden Pump.  It's for sale at this website for $225.99 and is rated for ponds up to 3000 gallons.  For sale here:  http://www.westcoastpetsupply.com/1/pond...

Your local Home Depot, Lowes, or other gardening supply store may have a similar pump for cheaper, so it's worth your time to shop around before purchase.
