What kind of punishments would you get if you were caught drinking at work but not on the clock?

So i work at this bar where none of the employees are aloud to drink even after work. Well i got caught and now have to come up with my own punishment if i want to keep my job an i have no idea i keep drawing a blank.

I honestly don't see how that's legal.  In my eyes when you're off the clock you're a private citizen just like anybody else and punishing you as an employee for something you did as a non-employee seems rather wonky.  I guess if you still have to come up with some punishment (again this seems rather flakey to me) then wash dishes or polish the brass or some other silly task that generally isn't part of your job.

I know this might sound harsh, but suspend your pay for one night.  This means you still go to work, in order to keep your job, but you do not get paid.  Nobody works for fun, they work for the money.  This will teach everyone a lesson.

You must smoke cigarettes until you get sick. No, that is for smoking. You must return what you took and appoligise to the owner. No, that is for stealing. Hmm. You must tell everyone that you are not able to follow the rules. This should make them settle down. Either that or spend a night on death row.

You serve the public, therefore the punishment should fit that "crime" (so to speak). I would take a lesson from the public officials and make your punishment be suspended "with" pay. That should show everyone!

suspend yourself for a saturday night. you get the night off!! that is a pretty lame style of management btw if you ask me.

Take one nights pay  and put it in the tip jar.   That way your co-workers will benefit (and you will be popular with them) rather than the bar owner.  

The bar owner will support you because he will look like a jerk if he doesn't

Well my sister got FIRED because the have a no tolerance LAW there at her old job at Bennigan's. They caught her drinking.

Wow as for your own punishment - tell them you will take one of those breath tests every week.

They sell them at some shops like "head shops".
