To teach for the public school system, you need to be a certified teacher. This requires at least a bachelor's in Early Childhood Ed as well as passing standardized tests.

To teach at private programs or for Head Start, you often need at least an Associate's in ECE. Assistants are sometimes able to get hired just based on having some experience working with kids.
