What kind of riding boots should I get since I'm a beginner?

I just started riding and I want some riding boots. I don't want any fancy boots. I just want them to be acceptable for any riding situations. Maybe a pair that I can use while riding english and western. Are there any like that???

  1. you should try getting something out of a catalog and sign up for a horse catalog and once you have got it you can look at the kids and it will show you kids and like beginning and like all kind you can by for kids i think it is really great

  2. I like lacers...like Justins.  I have a pair made by another manufactureer, but I like them a lot.  The lacers (lace up, obviously)provide more ankle support than slip on boots, look stylish, and have a slight heel with a rubber sole.  I ride English except when training a new horse, then I ride western so I can take a deep seat!

  3. just something comfortable and has a heel

  4. just something with a heel :)

  5. When my daughter started, she used Lacers.  They are a shorter boot but still have a nice shape for English and Western.  They have a short heel and a nicely poited toe without being too pointy.  They are durable as well and you can show in them or just practice.  I like them because they are not fat and could hang up in a stirrup, and they aren't as expensive as a full blown cowgirl boot either, but just as nice.  My daughter is now 19 and she got her first pair at 9.  They are still in fantastic shape and I use them lol!

  6. Just find a pair that are comfortable and not super wide. It probably won't be a problem for you, but I wear a size 13 and I can't wear my tennis shoes with most stirrups. My boots are narrower, though still comfortable. Mine lace up, but that's just a preference. I hurt my ankle a long time ago and can't force my right food at sharp angles. Just find something comfortable and narrow that wears good.

  7. I found jodhpur boots very comfortable when I began riding a few years ago. But anything with a small heel will do for now! :) Have fun riding!

  8. i would go for Dublin Daily Johdpur Boots, their only about $60 and i got them when i first started riding years and years ago

eventually i moved onto Tall boots.

But to start those ones are really great, good looking, durable, and look good on english or western

  9. Buy something used so you don't have to "break them in"

  10. um I ride in two different type of boots when im just rideing for fun i ride in "Justins" they cost about $80 here i believe there nice boots. Then when im showing I wear "Ariats" there about $120 here there nice boots and good quality and there comferatable. But then again you could find a cheap boot witha  heel it depnds. If you plan on showing I would go for Ariats there realy ncie looking as well.

  11. Wellies Are For The First Couple Of Lessons Lol

But I Started Out With Long Boots And Then About 5 Months Ago I Switched To Jodphur Boots With Chaps :)

Jodphur Boots With Chaps Are More Comfortable Because Its More Flexible.

Long Boots (Leather = More Expensive.. Rubber= Quite Cheap)

  12. i would get Justin's. they are great boots.

  13. my sister has gotten alot at payless or your local horse care center.

  14. Any boot with a heel will be fine. Once you make sure you're going to stick with it, then get something nicer. There are plenty of affordable paddock boots if you go to a tack shop and look around.

  15. maybe roper boots because they look like english but there western

  16. get justin cowboy boots

there durbale and will last a while

  17. Yeah, just get a cheap pair with a heel. After you get into it and, are done with your lessons, get a good pair that will last a long time. ;)

  18. Ariat  makes the most comfortable and durable boot on the market for my money. I use the same lace up paddock style for english, western , endurance and just walking about or going out. I try to keep two pairs, one for riding ,one for dress so I don't have to clean them all the time!

  19. You should start out with paddock boots.  I have ariat boots that have held up for a few years now.  If you feel like your saddles (english, I ride dressage, so I don't know much about western) are pinching you, you can buy some half chaps.  Half chaps are just like taller boots, but are cheaper, more comfy, and easy to get on and off.

  20. well i started off with good boots called Ariat. But any boot with a good heel will work fine!

  21. Well i started out with just a pair of regular boots that had a heel and than when i seen that they were working for my a got a different pair that i could always use!

  22. I grew up with horses, and was a nationally certified riding instructor. Yes, there are boots you can use while riding both English and Western, although wearing them in a competition or show is a different matter.

If you have weak ankles, or calves, get lace up boots. You need at least a 1 inch heel, measured from the top of the sole at the back of the boot, to the bottom of the heel. Get a sturdy material, usually leather.

The 'roper' style is very popular, and usually can be found with a steel toe to protect you. A pair can be bought for about 50 bucks if you don't want something really fancy.

Check the size carefully. If they are too tight, your feet will pay. Get a size that allows you to wear thick socks, at least at first. The whole idea of a stirrup and the boots is foreign to your feet right now, and the thick socks will help you prevent sores and blisters.

Try State Line Tack, they have a webiste...and makers such as Justin, Tony Lama......

  23. NO WELLIES!

Try a long riding boot. they are great for leg support and very comfy in winter. A shorter boot is better for hotter weather conditions and when you progress more in riding. Good Luck!
