I'm entering 10 grade and I've yet to own a pet of my own.

we have a family pet cat, but I'd like a lil tyke too.

I'd like something furry, cuddly, and affectionate.

I'm a very loving person, and I like animals that seem to apprecite their owners with noises or sitting still when petting them.

I have the option of recieving a guinea pig from my friend who has a pregant one. I've heard rats make great companions as well, intelligent and loving. Also if this helps all the colleges I want to apply to are small pet friendly. Please and Thanks!

and can guinea pigs learn their names?

  1. i think you should get a ginni pig,oh and yes Ginni pigs can learn there names.mine did!

  2. get a guinea pig from your friend.

  3. I just bought a guinea piggy yesterday and im 13(accualy i bought 2) and they are so cute...i think they would be good pets for you. But my friend also has a rat and they are fun. but i would deffinetly pick a guinea pig. But I havent yet figured out if they can learn their names

  4. I'd go with a guinea pig, my adult ones know their names, I have 9 all together. They are very loving (infact i have one laying on my chest right now watching TV with me) The females are more loving

  5. you should get a chinchilla they sleep during the day so since you go to school your chin will sleep when you come home you can play with it  + the dont have  a stinky odor like guinea pigs or hamsters do soo....yea lol heres a link

  6. well . . .

    1. Do NOT get a Ferret.  They steal your food a jewelry.

    2. Guinea Pigs tend to be lazy, which isn't really a bad thing

    3. Chinchillas are expensive but cute and cuddly

    4. Rats are smart, but your parents might find them disgusting

    5. Gerbils and hamsters are fun to play with and easier to take care of

    Choose one you think you'll love!

  7. definitely a rat they are the best pets...i have 17 of them

  8. YES GUINEA PIGS CAN LEARN THER NAMES AND THEY ARE VERY GOOD PETS TO HAVE THEY DONT BITe and love to be pet, i own 2 guinea pigs they have never bit me. and if you get one make sure you give them somthing to chew on cause there teeth never stop growing and buy somthing to cut there nails but ask a vet how to do so. and feed them 1 cup of food per day at least so they dont get over fed. they neeed a cage, water bottle, litter, a food bowl, food, and maybe more. NEVER BUY THEM A BALL TO RUN IN THAT CAN BREAK THERE LEGS!!! make sure to give them lots of exercise by holding them and paying a lot of attention to there nails, teeth, and fur if they have long hair. and dont forget to bath them! good luck :)

  9. hamsters are really good. I have two now and thier very friendly and playful.I definitly think they are the best, there cute cuddly affectionate, and thier easy to take care of.:)

  10. Guinea pigs are more relaxed than rats and need less attention, but they are very caring. I haven't taught my piggies anything, but I'm sure they're smart enough to learn their names, and tricks.

    Rats are very, very hyper and they require many hours out of the cage. I have a bunch of friends with rats, and they do need large cages. They can be taught all sorts of tricks.

    Both guinea pigs and rats need a companion. Well, guinea pigs are fine on their own, but you would have to have them out for a long, long time EVERY day. But you MUST have at least two rats unless somebody will be with them 24/7, paying attention to them.

  11. Definitely a rabbit!  Rabbits are very social and can be litter trained.  They loved to be groomed and play with you.  House rabbits can run around the house and lots of times they get along with house cats.  They also can learn to not enter certain rooms of a house.

  12. Either a rat or a mouse.Though rats and mice need lots of attention.The only problem with rats is that you need to get them a bigger cage as it gets older.The problem with mice is they stink so badly.More than rats.That's my opinion.

  13. GET A GUINEA PIG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...

    Yes a guinea pig can learn its name! My guniea pig did and now she just looks at me when I say her name. Sometimes she comes though...

    Guinea pigs can tell you how they are feeling too!

    Mad= Chattering their teeth

    Happy= A blup blup noise and they jump around NOT A FIT but popcorning

    Get AWAY NOW!= Loud purring

    that feels good= soft purring

    Once you have a grip of your guniea pig they will let you do ANY THING TO THEM (with the exception of hurting them) you can rub their feet in your hands and they love it. My guinea pig has opinions about people on tv. She got wanted spongebob squarepants to get lost.

  14. If you want a more social rodent, get a rat, But Guineas don't really need or want much attention.

  15. I'd say a guinea pig, and yes! they can learn their names.

    It's quite cute actually ^_^

  16. I have had hamsters, but they don't live long.  Guinea pigs need vitamin C everyday.  rats i don't know about.  Rabbits seem to be cool. I had one a long time ago when they lived in hutches outside.
