Question:

What kind of rose??

I got some beautiful roses from my fiance, and I'm wondering what type they are. One kind is a creamy yellow with red tips, and the others are yellow on the outside of the petal, and completely red on the inside of the petals. Anyone know the names of these? Thanks!

  1. There are so many hybrid teas in yellow/red combinations that it's extremely doubtful anyone could identify your roses without a photo.  Also, most roses that come from a florist aren't really roses you could grow on your own.  "Florist roses" tend to be specially-bred to last a long time in a vase, and many of them aren't hardy outside of a greenhouse.  If you want to plant a bush that will have flowers that look similar, though, then you can probably find a reasonably good match. "Peace" is probably the best known yellow/red hybrid tea, but there are many others.  The second one you describe sounds like it *could* be a hybrid tea named "Acapulco," but like I said, there are so many yellow/red roses out there that it's hard to be sure.

  2. no, but you can look it up, google it.

  3. The first rose you described might be a peace rose. They are beautiful. You could google "peace rose" and look at images. Good luck.

  4. omg the way you described them made them sound yummy.

  5. ***sy Lips

  6. As "Venatrix" says be aware that florist's roses and not always the same as what you would be planting in your garden.

If you just want to know the name of the ones that you got in your lovely bouquet, then look at this link. It's a link to a cut flower grower and I've linked your directly to the "novelty roses" which are the bi-colored ones. It may not show the exact ones that you have but you will probably be able to get pretty close. If you really want the names, contact the florist where you got your flowers from and they should know the names. Once you have the names, you can then research and see if it will make a nice garden rose.

    Best of luck!
