Question:

What kind of rug should I get?

I need new rugs for my linoleum floors, but am familiar with the fact that getting rugs with non-skid backing will discolor some floors with that lovely yellow tint.

Is my only option to get a rug without backing an just apologize to my guests that fall flat on their bum from slipping on it? Is there a non-skid backing that will not discolor floors?

    Good luck!

  3. Advise from A Rug Manufacturer from Agra, India:

If you buy double weft handknotted rug with good dyes , you will not face the two problems you have mentioned.

1.) It will never ever stain / discolor floor.

2.) It will not slip . No question about this.

Generally rugs that slip are either hand woven or flat weave and they require backing. But knotted rugs with pure wool and double weft never slip. However, if you buy knotted rugs with artifical silk or single weft rugs they might slip.

If you chose new rugs from your city or some internet site and need advise, please email me the picture plus details and I will be happy to help on issues such as quality, life expectation, fair value, etc.
