I need to cut some curtain poles down to size. The info that came with the poles said to use a junior hacksaw, but when I showed a friend my junior hacksaw, he said the blade was not suitable (I use if for sawing picture frame). What sort of blade do I need to get ?

  1. Fine tooth blade. 24 tpi

  2. I'd use a junior hacksaw. The blades generally differ on in the number and size of teeth- any blade ought to do it.

  3. those junior hacksaw blades used to be sold as a pack with a mixture of coarse, medium and fine blades in.  The medium one should be ok.

measure twice, cut once.  and cut it straight!

  4. haksaw should do the job but im not sure if iv spelt it right

  5. Any saw with a TPI of about 24 assuming it's a metal pole.

  6. hacksaw

  7. If its wood any saw really even a bread knife will do it if your totally stuck lol

If its metal a little hack saw

  8. Junior hack saws are notorious for wandering as you cut because the blade is flimsy. This gives a cut that is not square to the pole. Suggest if it is metal that you find a proper hacksaw and if wood a tenon saw is best.

  9. Get the blade to match what the pole is made out of, ie is it metal or wood.

  10. Your friend is obviously not clued up.

A junior hacksaw is the ideal tool for the job.Ignore other answerers that specify certain amounts of teeth or even other saws.

Use the saw.it will take about 10 seconds to cut through the pole.

  11. If it's wood, any saw. If it's metal, a hacksaw. This really isn't rocket science. See, even a girl knows.

  12. Use a Hacksaw with an 18 t.p.i blade [teeth per inch] if it's wooden and a 24 t.p.i blade if it is metal.
