  1. Most schools in the past.  When I was a kid the county medical director came to our school and we had our physicals in the gym, just lined up, walked up to him and he took vitals and did a hernia check, and the nurse took down the info he gave.   No big deal, and we were all dressed.

  2. In the not-so-distant past, almost all rural school systems had mass physical examinations.  These days, (in the US) most places have access to doctors and medical insurance for children.  However, there are still places which are isolated and/or where doctors are scarce.  It's most efficient for a doctor who flies in to do routine screenings to just line up the kids at school.  After all, they're already there.

Here in Indiana, the school systems still test elementary kids' vision and hearing, just to make sure no child is overlooked for these problems that affect learning.  If there seems to be a problem, they will test for learning disabilities, too.  Our local school system has a program that applies a sealant to kids' teeth (that prevents cavities), done right at school, for free, because it's not covered by state insurance.

Healthy kids learn more faster, and so schools benefit, as well as helping their children.

  3. the only group I know that does mass physicals is the military. have never heard of that being done in a school.

  4. p&s anybody?

my elementary school did by grade in the hallways

  5. they dont do it in public schools and i doubt they would in private schools because they are more strict than that ,,,
