I have a 2.5 year old son when he turns three I will send him to school. He has never been away from his home or his mother ever. So I need to know if it would be better to send him to a school with actual school curriculum or just to play with other kids.

  1. It depends on what you want?  Most daycare centers have a set curriculum even for the infants.  My daughter is 15 months old and her day care isn't a prep school or anything, but they are required by statute to follow a curriculum for all the children, but the kids still do a lot of playing.  Kids at this age learn through playing.  Your son is still fairly young, so its not super important that he be in a prep school, but he should definitely be in a place that has some structure with set meals, naps, and play times.

  2. Kids don't really have any advantage from being taught early - sure they might memorize things but their brains are not yet developed for logic or reasoning.

I would choose a school or playgroup that exposes him to colors, letters, numbers, but focusses more on social activity, following directions and free play.  Play really is learning to kids.

  3. At his age i think he can only go to day care and then at 4 he can go to pre-k and then 5 king. atleast that's how it is here in Florida not sure where you are

  4. / A school with a curriculum is much better than a play place.

Your son will enjoy keeping his mind busy, and will learn.  He will also learn structured ways to (play) interact with other children.

He will still have fun.  He will delight in showing you his work (art,etc.).

He will be ready for first grade, and will understand concepts easily.

  5. He should probably start out at a group day care for about 6 months, then to a re-school or head start program. It is neccessary for him to get adjusted to children before he starts school. Keep in mind that he has to be potty trained before going to pre-school also.

  6. send him to preschool. it'll be hard the first few weeks. but it'll get easier.
