  1. Climatologists:

    Environmental Scientists:

  2. If you want to be a scientist, that is study and research, there are many fields. You could study climate, jungles, deserts, pollution, weather, ocean currents, wildlife, glaciers, microbiology etc etc.

You can work in a lab setting and study microscope slides of fungus for example or you can study the behavior of animals. A lab scientist or a field scientist.

There are other considerations. Environmental Engineering goes into using knowledge of the impact that people have on the environment to figure out ways for specific ventures to minimize this impact or compensate for any unavoidable effects. Look at carbon offset.

This is really a huge field, so you really need to decide what type of study you are most interested in and look into what types of studies are needed in these fields.

  3. It's a large field but you have plenty of time to narrow it down. For now, take as many science courses as you can and read up in as many environmental fields as you can. You will eventually discover that you like some fields better than others. Read more and more specialized material in these fields and you will eventually come up with a college major and, if you pay attention to where the authors work, a college to go to.
