Do they have cameras? What if you get caught doing something? What if they're attacked (hypothetically)?

I'm just curious because they don't seem to tote safety as a marketing point

  1. They have great security. When you first board a cruise ship, you get your picture taken and are given a cruise card. You must present this card every time you leave the ship and every time you come back, even if it is only for a few minutes, no exceptions. When everyone is aboard the ship before leaving the port, they know who is not on board and will call out missing passengers on the PA system. That is why it is of utmost importance to be back to the ship on time. The only cameras they have are on the outside of the ships, usually at the bow of the ship and in the wedding chapel too. If they have other camera's, I'm not aware of it. They say they even know who doesn't show up for the safety drill everyone must attend at the beginning of the cruise. How they know, I don't understand, but they do. Also while in port, they will have patrol boats surrounding the cruise ship looking for any trouble.

  2. to be very honest i dont think i have ever seen a security person on any cruise, except for in the casino, and everyday i walked around the ship and used the stairs instead of the elevators so i didnt end up fat at the end of the cruise

at port thats different theres like 300 police and then you literally got 10 police when your getting back on the ship from the port of call, scanning you bags, checking your id card

  3. There are lots of security cameras and security people. When you are in international waters you fall under international law or the law under which the ship is registered. That said it is possible for one to have his hand chopped off for stealing.

  4. Yes, the ship has security officers and security cameras.  If you are "caught" doing something, the captain can have you and anyone accompanying you put off the ship at the next port to find your own way home.
