What kind of self-photo does a fashion...ish scholarship want?

I'm thinking about applying for a scholarship that is sponsored by a teen fashion magazine...think celebrities and makeup tips. In short, what a lot of people would find frivolous.

Point is, they're asking for a photo from all participants. My question is, taking into consideration what kind of organization is sponsoring this scholarship, are they asking for a serious portrait or a glittery, fantabulous, feathered boa snapshot?

I think the type of photo that flatters you the most and shows who you are the most is what they want.  If you are not a glittery, feather boa type of person, go with a serious portrait.
