  1. To start your own server, you need to obtain #1 a server, which in all honesty can be a secondary computer with a large hard drive.that you can network to.. You really do not want to do your everyday computer issues on the same computer as the server. Plus, the networking helps to protect your server and your other computer.

You need a copy of win server 2000 / 2003. You need to go with either dsl or cable.  Contact the company and advise them that you need a static ip, no the domain doesn't give you that element, it is a specific Ip for your server alone. Yes, it does cost more. Then go to register.com and choose your domain name, pay for the year or longer and it will be registered.  Now, setting this up, you really need to understand how to work through the software, start with google it will help you.  Quite a bit of the setup is on Wizard, but it still seems complicated.  Good luck.  If you change your mind,  You can still obtain your own domain through register.com, and find a good webhost to work with.

  2. If you want to start your website I recommend purchase your domain and hosting together. In this way it is possible to get your domain for free. Some hosting services offer this gift today.

One of these services is reachable at: http://bluehost-service.atspace.com . As an experienced webmaster I’m sure it would work for you and fulfill all your requirements. Their service is really great and easy to use.

  3. Hostmonster webhosting is the best one since they offer unlimited Bandwidth ,free domain and $75 credits to advertise your website with the google & yahoo search engines for free  with their webhosting.

  4. you can buy domain from register.com or godaddy.com

    for hosting hoststock.com

    p.s never buy from namebargain.com

    good luck

  5. if you want your own domain name, not a subdomain of an existing domain, you buy one from ICANN.  You can do the actual purchase through any of their accredited registrars:  http://www.icann.org/en/registrars/accre...

You can have either a static IP (for the computer the site's running on) or you can use a dynamic DNS service (they're free) like dyndns.com.
