  1. great shape. its like idk but u ned to be able to throws punches kicks for 15 mins so yea

  2. I started MMA in not so good shape...but I've lost 33 pounds in 6 months and in a whole lot better shape. but its not easy the first 3 or so months when guys in good shape are running circles around you . But its still fun and worth the sweat and pain

  3. that upside down triangle shape should be good

  4. David "Tank" Abbott was no body builder now was he?  Jeremy Horne looks aweful as well and has fought over 100 fights and his peers call him "the laziest man in MMA".  Are you a body builder or a fighter?  or are you one of those body building MMA wannabe's?  I'll take a short Japanese guy for my MMA team any day and watch him stomp some muscle head through the cage floor.  If it's all about looks then why even fight? ....Shape? ROTFL

  5. Well, any MMA gym worth it's salt will be putting you through some serious workouts, and if you're not feeling good in terms of weight or cardio, I can assure you that you'll have a high chance of burning out on the art really quickly.

I would actually suggest going to either a striking-specific or grappling-specific school first, as they would most likely be more flexible with the fitness requirements, and from experience, I know that people who at least have some level of expertise on an aspect of MMA tend to stick with it and not burn out. I wasn't fat or not muscular, but I got into the best shape of my life doing Judo then no-Gi BJJ, and I'm thinking about making to switch to MMA soon myself.

So long story short, get yourself to a Muay Thai/Kyokushin/Brazilian Jiu Jitsu/Sambo school and work your way into MMA for best results. :)

  6. I would say it does not matter as long as you are dedicated.  It is going to be very tough early on but you are probably better off joining an MMA gym and working with them to get into shape.  It will, no doubt, provide better discipline but ultimately, you will get to where you need to be, it is just going to take a lot of will power and dedication.

    Good luck!!

  7. you have to be in ok shape, the MMA coaches will greatly enhance your fitness, it's part of their job.  Your job is to not smoke, this will really damage your potential.

As a Krav Maga teacher I notice smokers seem to have a difficult time with really working drills and even more difficult in tests, our are 4 hours, w/4 30 second breaks for water.  The most crucial part of the test is the last 1/2 hour.  This is where smokers run out of gas.

You just do the best you can, a good Kru or coach will motivate you to exceed yourself.
