What kind of shoes are in style this summer for 12 yr old boys?

I have no idea what's in style for the summer this year for 12 year olds for shoes. Are skater shoes still in? Or is something else popular now? I would like to really surprise my Grandson with a stylish pair. Does anyone have any advice in this or any websites to look at?

they are very popular at my school.

but skate shoes, converese, nikes like those, and adidas like these http://www.zappos.com/images/115/115191/... are popular at my school, but i am in 8th grade but i think its all relevant.

american all star converse they are pure american brand and have been in style since the 1990 they will stay in fashion for a long time. Or go for jordons if you have a big budget they are totally in stlye great for sports great for foot comfort. on the other hand dont buy nikes they are made from poor vietnamises women forced to work for less then 5 cents a day

The most popular ones are jordans,vans,DC,Mark Ecko,and converse but those are all expensive like over $50,some cool cheap ones would be Adidas and AND1 so yea.

Just don't get sketchers or ones with cartoons on them.I would highly reccomend a gift card to shoe palace so he can pick his own shoes.

The skater (sketchers etc) shoes are still pretty popular here. the low cut shoes- never the high top.

Go with the nike's. Thats what everyone i know wears. I have nike vandals.
