i have watched men pummel the opponents heads! on mat which can lead to brain death and the crowd cheers! this extrem fighting has taken all the integrity!! and decency out of karate a nd other martial arts, which good instructors try to emphasize!! martial arts is supposed to be conditioning of mind and body, and self defense!! not for the purposes of some making millions of dollars to satisfy the blood thirsty fans in america!

  1. They do look an awful lot like the gladiators of rome out there sometimes. I swear they look like they might fight to the death on some occasions.

  2. It's not all bashing in the brains. There's ground control and submissions to. What is real martial arts to you then? Taking a class gives you the conditioning of the mind and body. You get in shape and your mind becomes mentally tougher. There are "blood thirsty" in Japan, Russia, Korea, and most of Europe. Martial arts have evolved where it's not just about 1 art. It's about time you move on with the times. It's no longer human cockfighting.

  3. my sick mind loves it

  4. they have invented this great thing called a remote control where you can change the channel if you dont like the program. Its an amazing discovery!

  5. The kind of mentality with proper grammar. You should probably understand that MMA fighters are more conditioned, trained, and more intelligent than most other athletes in the world. Many of them have gone to college, since many of them have a wrestling background in which they needed to keep a certain average in order to continue to wrestle. SUre, MMA caters to the blood lust and andrenaline junkie crowd, but thats human nature. It takes a helluva lot more intelligence to fight than you may think, fighters use techniques ingrained in their minds after hours upon hours of training. They have to be smarter in situations, know when it is the right time to swing and the right time to guard, etc.

Its p u s s i e s like you who give MMA a bad name. But fighting is a part of our nature, whether its to defend yourself or others to eat like way back in the early ages.

And if you don't like it, than turn it off you dumb a s s

  6. Agreed. America is back in ancient Roman times when the crowds gathered to see gladiators die.

MMA is not better. It is human cockfighting and needs to be banned again. It gives a bad name to martial arts and completely does away with concepts like honor, integrity, and humility.

  7. Ah yes, it's horrible, I agree with you, but Muay Thai in Thailand is even harsher, I once went there and saw a Muay Thai fight and it was....horrible, blood everywhere, every single fight ended in knockout, they were fighting to the death...at least in MMA the referee doesn't advocate death....

  8. I guess we all have choices in this. You can watch or not watch. The difference between MMA and Human c**k Fighting is that the roosters don't have a choice. They are breed for that reason. Humans are adults that make the choice to train and fight. Some people like the challenge. I only began training in Brazilian Jujitsu recently. Why did I choose that art? If I'm going to train in something to get into shape I may as well make it something that would actually help me should I have to defend my child or my own life. How did I learn that it was effective? Because UFC1 showed that it could be useful against a larger more powerful person. I love MMA more than boxing because the boxers stand there and take repeated blows to the head. For the most part when a fighter can't defend himself in MMA then the fight is stopped. Enjoy not watching MMA events. I'll enjoy watching. Sorry that you feel that it is a sick mentality. Even George Bush (and John McCain ) would send people to continue to die without a clear goal or earmarks for Iraqi army to improve. I ask you which is more barbaric. Human suffering on a large scale or 2 people that want to test their skills?

  9. no worse than boxing which has way more injuries and deaths than mma. or "human cockfighting"

the difference is they respect each other....and they all know when to say when. they dont go in there to pummel a guy...they go in there to win. if they end up having to pummel the guy because he's a tough hombre...so be it. they shake hands and often hug each other afterward...then go have some drinks at a local bar.

they all know when to tap out!! not to mention they all agree to it...if you dont like it...dont watch it.

but the state traditional arts are in today....the worst mma fighter would destroy most of the best traditional artists in seconds.

mma has taught the world how to fight again...and you can see even traditional artists training in a more lively manner because of it. so mma has helped martial arts as a whole.

hopefully the days of karate and taekwondo "black belts" who can't fight their way out of a wet paper bag are coming to an end. no more 7 year old black belts...no more belt factories. and no more whiney p*ssies who think they know how to fight. fighting is not pretty...its ugly as h*ll and thats just the way it is.

over the years traditional arts forgot where they are from and what they were designed for!!! ...with so much tip tap sport nonsense around...no wonder why everyone thinks traditional arts suck...because they are not practiced as they once were. not so long ago things changed from pure combat practicality to "do"..the way...self development..etc....and inherantly moved away from combat practicality.

people think they can go to class 2 days a week and practice their kata and become good fighters...or be able to defend themselves....rubbish.

get in there and mix it up with a mma guy or even a good judo guy who trains live and you'll see what i mean.

im not suggesting traditional arts suck...im suggesting they forgot their purpose. and its time to get back to it. it's time to step up, and take control of your reputation...it's largely your own fault (tma people)...train well and you will fight well.

im suggesting rather than bicker and argue about who's right and who's wrong....we need to be learning from each other!!!! both sides have alot to teach the other...its time we all face it.

  10. alright mr. john mccain. If you don't like mma don't watch it.

  11. well yea ur right about the respect and morals taught in martial arts,an how its being thrown away

but also,by watching them you learn alot of moves

    =]

  12. man go watch baseball or sumthin...

  13. Then don't watch it.

  14. "this extrem fighting has taken all the integrity!! and decency out of karate a nd other martial arts, which good instructors try to emphasize!! martial arts is supposed to be conditioning of mind and body, and self defense!!"

How has MMA done this? Its MMA not martial arts.

Also MMA is safer than just about every sport with the exception on bowling and golf and maybe curling (although those curling guys can get pretty nasty with the push brooms)

Several martial arts were made to fight and attack, not just self desense, and ontop of that there are several moves and techniques in several martial arts which are far more dangerous than anything in MMA. I have seen several "karate" competitions where people have had thier heads kicked in and people cheered at those as well.

Also MMA is very popular in several countries, i.e. Brazil, England, France, Russia, Canada, just to name a few.

Also there have been more people who have made millions of dollars with thier "karate" than people have in MMA, just look at all the actors out there.

I have endless respect for martial arts and martial artists but there's no need to bad mouth MMA, and if poeple are not smart enough to distingush the two and see them for what they are then perhaps they shouldnt comment on them, especially without getting informed a little fist.

  15. Aren't you the same guy who asked if UFC was better than MMA???  I cannot believe I wasted my time explaining to you the different orgs and how the UFC fits in.  Yu obviously have no clue what you are talking about, you've already made that very clear in other questions, and now here you are bashing something you are competly ignorant towards.  Change the channel and turn on the Masters on CBS or Ice Skating on ABC.

I think most TMA McDojo instructors are mad because their doors are closing because they have been exposed as frauds, there are very few true quality schools and they will always keep their doors open, just like their minds to adjust the styles to the times.  Please leave now and let us enjoy our barbaric ways.

  16. They cleaned it up and it is nowhere as bad as it was in the early nighties.

  17. the ones that arent fuking whiney btches

you think MMA aint conditioning for the mind and body. Go to a class, get your head punched a few times and maybe it will open up your eyes.  Fighting like track and field is a "real" sport.  They are both things which were relied upon for SO long as a way to live (ie.  fighting for food, throwing javelin, sprinting to catch food) every other sport is just bogus!

no one is dying.  No one ever has.  It is the only sport in history with a 0 fatality rate.  The fighters are so well conditioned and the referees are so good, that **** like that dont happen

Go back to bible class, churchy la feme.

  18. I don't understand MMA either.  It's not real since there are rules, referees, timers, gloves, padding, etc.  The fighters talk too much trash for me to respect them as martial artists.  Since the days of the warlord are over in most of the civilized world, martial arts is supposed to be about training to not have to fight.  Talking trash and beating an opponent bloody just doesn't fall into my understanding of it all.

And the crowds.  Most of those people look like they'd feel right at home at a c**k fight or a dog fight the way they are acting.

Say what you want about traditional arts.  I'll stick with them.  The black belts at my dojo would not have much problem with most MMA fighters in a self defense situation.

  19. Now you know why so many of us martial arts practitioners don't like all that "blood sport entertainment" on TV that they pass off as "martial arts."

The sad part is that a lot of people get the idea that all of that c**p is what martial arts is all about!

  20. The ones who know what a fight is really about! Check out this link!
