  1. A ringneck snake

  2. sounds like a ringneck.

  3. Hello; it sounds like you may be describing a Smith's Black-headed snake. They are a very small, mildly venomous species of snake that is considered harmless to humans. Here is a website that has pictures and information on them; is this the snake that you saw?

Another snake that matches your description that is found in your area is the Ringneck snake. Here are a couple of websites that have pictures and more information on them; as well. :)

I hope this helps, and if you have any further questions at all on the subject or if neither of these are the right snake and you'd like more suggestions on what it could be; please feel free to message me and I will be more than happy to assist you. :)

    Good luck!
