What kind of snake is this....??????

the snake is a lite tan or brown and has a lite red stripe down its back ...we are located in west tx.

  1. it could be a black-necked garter snake or the checkered garter snake or even the eastern coachwip. if you have a pic i could probably tell you what it is without any problem.


  2. It sounds like a red-striped ribbon snake.

    Or it may be a Garter Snake, they can be hard to distinguish from Ribbon snakes.
