  1. soil rich with fertilizers and not so hard. it shouls be pourous soil that u can easily move with ur hands.:). umi

  3. Potatoes like very acidic soil, adding peet moss is a good idea if you do not have naturally acidic soil.

  4. dont use to much lime, more on the acidic side more then anything, a bit of super phosphate is good for them as well, as the plant grows keep heaping the soil over it , keeps  them from going green,  which is a no no when growing spuds

  5. The Irish soil....after the potato fammon they've been doing pretty well. :-D

  6. Potatoes need good rich soil that is loose and has good drainage.  It should be the kind of soil you can pick up and crumble - not heavy clay.
