What kind of soil does my Sago Palm tree need to grow on ?

  1. Even if You buy regular garden soil, such as miracle grow..just add sharp contractors sand to it.  Not play sand.


  2. sandy soil such as bromelaid mix is good.

    you can also go to your local nursury and ask them for the best soil for cycads

  3. I have several sagos planted, and they're planted directly into the dirt in my yard. My soil is a sandy/clayish type, with a topsoil overlay of about 6-12".  I potted some smallish sagos earlier this spring and used standard Miracle Gro potting soil, mixed with a little sand. The potted ones are doing fine also.

  4. A very sandy soil would be best.  I do not know the name brands off hand because I live up north.

    But go to any garden centre and they will show you the right brand of sandy soil.
