What kind of sound vibrations can do damage?

I guess I'm a little neurotic and a bit paranoid, but lately I've been getting nervous every time I hear loud, low, or sustained sounds for fear that they might do some damage.

For instance, my sister practicing the oboe downstairs, a neighbor mowing the lawn right outside, or firecrackers going off close to my window during a celebration have been putting me on edge.

Am I just being paranoid, or are these everyday noises actually producing harmful sound vibrations? Harmful to computers drives and other electronics, I mean.

  1. They shouldn't be harmful. Just annoying and sometimes a shock to you. For example, if someone comes up behind you and shouts "Boo!". You jump because you get scared and not because the sound done damage. Some sounds, such as the brown note, can actually make you have an a brown accident as you can tell from its name. Other sounds can only be heard by teenagers, it makes me cover my ears as it sounds so loud and drives me insane. Some people play it in classrooms so everyone gets annoyed but the teacher does not know. If the noise is wrong, its your right to complain, barking dogs, fireworks. You have the right to complain to your council and get it sorted.
