I found a picture of speakers that aren't connected with a standard speaker wire. The person describes it as a fast-on connection. What is the exact name of the speaker cable used here?

  1. These connectors are called  "SPADE" connectors. sometime called "quick-connect" ... there is a "male"  and "female" in a pair that connect togeather.  There are "mini spades"  and a standard size which is .250 (1/4 inch wide). This type of connector is used a lot on inexpensive audio componets as well as many electronic devices. They are not concidered a high quality connector for audio because they tend to loosen over time with constant vibration. That is also why you might not often see this type of conector used in automobiles.(but of course I have seen it a lot..cheap c**p! he he.  But  they do offer failry low resistance and they are inexpensive. (buy at Radio Sack for about $1 for 10). But of course all products vary in quality and cost...so I am sure some makers will tell you that thiers are the best.

Here is a site that sells all types.... I think I like the "Ring" type when used with a s***w and lock washer. If done right you will never have to worry about resistance and signal loss or vibration loosing the connection. There is also a "conductive paste" you can apply that will delay corrosion for connections used in marine humid or dirty inviroments.
