What kind of speakers would be best for this device?

I have an ion icd04fx. Its a dual cd player/mixer.. here's that link.

Yea, its a little juvenile, but it sounds great and i think it can go a long way.. and i know i need a pair of loudspeakers with hopefully an amplifier built in yes? I've been doing some research and it seems that an amp is a pain in the butt.. but I don't know much about this..

the cd player/mixer has and rca output and a 1/4 jack so what kind of cables do i need to hook it up? What brand of speakers?? i'm just starting out so nothing over $200 if at all possible?

the internal speakers on the device shut down when something is plugged into it other than headphones.

I would need to know what the impedance on the output is, in ohms.  For something this small, you would probably need an amp if you plan to use it professionally, depending.  You don't want to invest too much in speakers only for the impedance not to match--and for you to end up with a set of blown speakers.
