  1. She'll want a neurologists, preferably one specilizing in MS.  There are several diseases/disorders that share symptoms with MS. The neurologist will rule them outbefore diagnosing her with MS. A diagnosis of MS may take several months to confirm.

    Here's a link for choosing a physician:

  2. Hi Ded, People with MS see a neurologist. It is best to see one who specializes in MS to get a diagnosis. It takes a practiced eye to be able to tell if someone has the lesions indicative of MS.  If you call the Multiple Sclerosis Society, they can tell you who is in your area. There are MS centers all over the US. The MS society has a web site where you can get all kinds of information-NMSS.ORG

  3. An MS Specialist, a neurologist, who specializes in MS, usually associated with major teaching universities. I was diagnosed by an MS Specialist at UCLA and now see one from UCI (Irvine).

  4. You would see a neurologist.  MS is an auto-immune disease where the body attacks its own myelin sheath nerve coverings.  The symptoms can be as varied as the nerves it affects.  Treatment should include one of the "ABC" drugs (Avonex, Betaserone, Copaxone) along with meds to treat any symptoms you may have.

If you're serious, you can email me.  My brother has had MS for almost 9 years.

    Good luck, hope this helps!

  5. first you need a credible diagnosis, from your regular doctor, he will refer you to the appropriate specialist.

  6. You will need to see a neurologist who specifically deals with M.S. But before she starts to panic just know that if it is multiple sclerosis. all is not lost. There is hope and you can lead a very normal life. I am 31 and have had it for 11 years and you would never know it unless I told you. So get a  diagnosis and if it is M.S. pick a therapy and start A.S.A.P....  you can email me if you need any answers I would be happy to help any way I can.  :-)
