What kind of spider? RED blood? hairy?

There was a huuuge spider in my room today....it scared the c**p out of me. almost literally.

it didn't seem confrontational or antagonistic, because it hid. with it's legs stretched out, it would have been about the size of a dollar coin. when it was finally killed, its blood and guts were red, like red blood. it was mostly black in color, with either black or VERY dark grey hair. it looked like a small turantula. it also seemed to have a VERY crunchy exoskeleton.

it had small white markings on it's butt.

Also, I live in upstate new york. far from hickville, but right in the middle of the state of new york.

anyone have any idea what it could have been?

poisonous?

any info/insight is appreciated!

  1. I love hairy...

  3. it may have been a cobweb spider... from what I read they have venom (meaning they probably are posinous). Look at the website on the refrence link below and check it out and see if the spider you saw matches any of the ones on the list. The first link is a list of some common north american spiders and the second is just info on the cobweb spiders. Hope this helps :]

  4. will it be the red spider mite? it's totally red blood in colour:

or it could be the false black widow ?:

  5. A hairy spider of that size can only be a Tarantula. I can not explain the red blood.  It could have been escaped from a neighbor, but I have never heard of them being fed blood. Look up Hairy megalomorph (Theraphosidae) to see if it looks like yours. http://homepage.ntlworld.com/the.tarantu...
