You didn't say how big it was, if it was about 2 or 3 inches long and some are even longer,  my best guess is that it is a Silk Spider or Banana Spider, they come in many colors and patterns, they are harmless. They are Common to the Southeast, particularly Southern Georgia and Florida, but the have been seen as far north as South Carolina.
