I live in Vermont (U.S) and would like to know what kind of spider this is that lives by the pond. This one is only medium sized, I have seen some that are MUCH larger. Is this a wolf spider? I have never seen spiders this large in vermont except at this pond I have a camp at.

Here is the link

Thanks for any help!

  1. i dout its a wolf spider they tend to live in the wood works of houses

  2. I am in the Northwest but if I saw that thing I would run a mile! I don't know what it is but look it up you may find it on the net somewhere under arachnids  eeek!

  3. i think its a brown recluse spider which grows to one inch long & is not poisonous, as someone else has said, its not a wolf spider as the legs are too long & narrow, also fangs are not protruding & its eye alignment is wrong for a wolf

  4. Brown recluse spiders are very poisonous, by the way, but it is definitely not a brown recluse.  It looks like a water spider, seriously.  They can actually sit on top of the water they are so light and their weight is spread out.

  5. looks like a brown recluse. if it is those are deadly
