Right outside my screened in porch, (Florida) there is a spider with a black and white body, kind of like lines or a design, with an orange/hot pink head, and long bright green legs, I just wanted to if anyone knew what kind of spider this is, and if it is venomous, (Central Fl)

  1. i think is danguros. go to spiders.com

  2. Yes its very poisonous because it has a colorful body.

  3. All spiders are venomous. Only two in the US can possibly be dangerous to humans, the black widow and the brown recluse. Brown recluse's are not normally found in Florida and it is not a black widow. Search for spiderzrule and see if you can ID it. In Florida it may be an imported spider that came in with produce.

  4. Critterman is completely correct.  It is neither a Brown Recluse, Widow Spider, or a Yellow Sac Spider.  These are the only ones that are dangerous to humans in the U.S.  It sounds like it may be a type of Argiope, which are quite impressive looking but not dangerous.

    Keep in mind, that except for a very select few, all spiders are venomous.   Bites normally cause a raised, reddish area that itches, similar to bee sting.

    A photo would certainly be helpful here.  It sounds like you have a great looking spider.  I would love to see it and help you positively ID it.

  5. probably I saw one of them where I live (I do not live in Florida) they sorta look like black widows. which it probably was.

  6. The Argiope is a good guess.

    I am actually thinking a Basilica Spider;

    Important thing to note is that this spider is a web weaver, and only gets to about half an inch.

    If this doesn't look like your spider, is it an orb weaver (builds large flat webs) and about how big was the spider?

  7. that's is correct, colorful bodies mean something!

    i don't know what kind and google wont solve it...

    i tried that!

    idk how to help you but i wish you the best in your spider researches!
