Question:

What kind of spider is this and is it poisonous (CT)?

I live in Connecticut and i found spider in my house today and its a medium sized spider it looks like a minature teranchla but it has yellow diamond on the back of it. I just want to know what kind it is because there is a family and i want to know whether to kill it or leave it alone since i have pets and they play with those things.

  1. It is a jumping spider.  They are usually black or gray.  The black ones have a white, yellow, orange, or red marking on their backs.  They sometimes have metallic green mandibles. They are common all over North America.  

    Their bite is harmless, but only bite if they are handled roughly.  They usually flee and hide from humans.  They are also helpful, because they are excellent hunters and also eat other spiders.  Below is a couple of pictures of a jumping spider.
