It was less than 1/2 an inch big. I live in southwestern Pennsylvania, very near woods (the forest starts at the end of our yard, maybe 30 feet from our house), if that helps.

Thanks to anyone who can help! =)

  1. Pokemon-Master-Guy has got it. It's an Albino Spider. People might mistake it for an Albino Crab Spider. But either way, you can call the animal control people if you want it removed, just in case you don't want it crawling up near your house or in your garden lol.

  2. I can't find a solid answer searching the web, but here's a link to start from if you want to look for yourself.

Apparently a spider's species can be very hard even for specialists to accurately identify correctly.  I think it is some variant of an orb-weaving garden spider but I'm not sure.  Did you find a web it belongs to?  Webs can tell a lot.  If it's a spiraling web with careful design it is most likely a garden spider.  If it is a cob-web looking thing up in some craggy rocks, I'd be real careful about it because that's what a black widow's web looks like and it could be a variant of that family.  Garden spiders are generally not harmful to humans unless you are allergic.  Red is usually a danger signal in nature however, and those red knees worry me.  But they could just be there to distract a predator from the spider's main body, a survival kind of feature.

  3. i hope its a dead spider

  5. it's an albino giant. you REALLY want to get rid of those. they are DEADLY poisonous sometimes. if you get bitten in the right place, and for long enough, it can kill you. usually all it takes to kill it is spraying it with windex or something. i think the chemichals hurt it badly because of it's exoskeleton. but if this thing starts a family, it can be BIG trouble.
