BMW's are nice. Look for an early to mid 90's convertible 3 series, or just the M3. Parts are expensive when it needs repair but BMW parts last forever. You can usually find a BMW in nice shape from these years for less than $5k.

Very sporty, lots of horsepower, and you'll turn the ladies heads for sure!

"Sporty cars" have higher insurance rates and suck down gasoline...make sure this is really what you want

Ok try edmunds.com or Cars.com because it depends on your zip code how much $5000 will get you. Maybe a Civic. or an Accord 2 door.  It depends on how old you are willing to go.  My first car was a 1965 Mustang $1500.  But half the time it wouldn't start.  So, shop around.

Sporty cars have issues. They are almost without exception hideously expensive to insure. They are almost without exception not very fuel-efficient. Some of them are notoriously unreliable. And some of them have been treated very badly by previous owners.

If you're okay with that, try a 1987-1993 Mustang or a 1982-1992 Camaro.

BMW 2002i. Thats the model not the year. They are small, fast and cheap if they are junkers. Buy one @ $3500, and get a $400 paint job, $300 upholstry and you have $800 left over for gas, which will get you about 4 miles.
