I know it's a main sequence star, but is it considered to be a red dwarf?

  1. pretty much what he said...

except the V means "Main Sequence" not variable.

red dwarf stars are pretty d**n stable.

    our Sun is a G2V

  2. It's an M3V.  M stars are the little red dwarf stars - OBAFGKM - big is at the left, little is at the right.  At 0.003 times the intrinsic brightness of the Sun, that fits too.

V is variable.  These stars often flare, alot.
