  1. A thrift shop...I love graco brand!! I have graco everything!! Walmart is always good too!!

  2. You will probably get the most use out of an umbrella stroller, although 4 months is a little young for one.  Still, they could comfortably be in one from about 6months to 3-4 years.  I recommend the MacLaren.  It's a little more expensive but if you divide it out over the time you would have it, it pays for itself.  Also, Chicco makes a decent umbrella.  Search the internet for sales, etc.  BabiesrUs is the most expensive.

  3. I have two different strollers. One was a Graco travel system. It was about $125.  It had cup holders for parents and a storage cup that locked across the handle area, cup holder and snack tray for the child and could go from sitting up to lying down, covered or not.  It collapses and pops up easy with a simple one touch system.  There is also an underneath storage basket for things you carry with you and can lock in a car seat carrier for infants that are not sitting up yet onto the stroller system for use. HOWEVER

    * it is bulky and eats trunk room up when you take it anywhere

    * it is NOT the lightest thing in the world.  It isn't heavy, but it is very cumbersome to lift and load into a vehicle if needed or to store at home

    * doesn't manuever well because it is bulky

If I had the choice to do over again I would not have bought this particular stroller, but being the first time into the stroller market as a mom when we did get it the thing seemed like a great idea at the time.  It is a great stroller though for zoos and amusement park type places for little ones because they can stay comfy and happy facing out or facing you in the shade and the underneath compartment for storage is nice for handbags, diaper bags, extra clothing and any purchases made along the way.  We use this stroller only for those types of situations and my son is now 16 months old.

The other kind of stroller I have is the umbrella kind that I got at walmart for like $15.  It pops open and closed super easy, is lightweight, has a buckle to keep baby in and wipes clean super easy.  It hangs up in closet or garage easily and is great for compact storage in a trunk.   I keep one in my car, my husbands car, at both grandparents houses and my sisters so when we go to visit we don't have to take a stroller. If you travel alot, especially if you ever fly, these strollers are a wonderful thing because they are so compact and can turn quick and easily because they are lightweight..   The umbrella style though is more for kids who are sitting up well on their own (usually around 6 months or so) and have good neck support of their own strength otherwise they wouldn't be safe to use.  You can get umbrella strollers with sun canopies as well.   It is the stroller that i use the most with my son, even now, because it is so easy to grab and go when we need it.

The other suggestion I'll make is if you hike or walk alot and just want to have something to keep baby close that can grow with them look at investing in a baby backpack style carrier. You can pack diaper needs in the bag part and baby gets a five point over the shoulder harness system for their area.  They do come both with and without sun and weather canopies.  They aren't a cheap option but if you hike and are outdoorsy at all they aer a good investment.  Ours is a Kelty and runs about $180 but it is has been worth every penny with our son when we go hiking in the mountains on weekends or places like Rock City/Lookout Mountain near our home, state parks and even camping.  They are also great for going to festivals with or other attractions where it's more "look not do".  Again, these are more for kids that are sitting up well on their own first and can go up to about 50 pounds on some models.
