What kind of stuff does a kindergarten girl like?

I am buying school supplies for a 5-year-old girl. I don't KNOW any other 5-year-olds, so I'm not sure what kinds of stuff they're into at that age. I'd like to get her more than just plain colored folders & notebooks! Any TV shows, characters, bands, kid-trends?

Any suggestions would be great! Thank you!

Are you restricted to back-to-school stuff? If so, then the brands others mentioned are pretty much it and you go look in those aisles for items.

If you can get her other stuff too, then I would suggest:

- An umbrella or waterproof jacket

- Lunch box or backpack (but half-day kindergarten might not need this)

Disney Princesses, Barbie, Dora, art supplies, Hannah Montana, Furreal Friends or anything pink, soft, and girly.

When my daughters were that age, they liked either Barbie or baby animal themed folders.

Most school supplies in kindergarten are community property if you will- the whole class uses them.  I've had 2 kids thru kindergarten and neither one needed their own notebook or folder.  Although, she might like feeling more grown up.  Usually anything with cute animals on it, Hannah Montana, etc.  If you get stuff she doesn't need in class, maybe they will assign it to a child that would use it, or she could even use it at home to keep track of all the stuff she gets back from the teacher.  Thoughtful idea!
