I've never gone camping before and I'm going this weekend for the first time. I hope I don't miss anything important...

  1. You need to be more specific.  Are you going tenting out in the middle of no where, or at a campsite in a cabin?  Please add more details.  If you are going to a campsite where they already have most of the stuff you need, then you don't need to bring near as much stuff as if you are going tenting in the middle of no where.

  2. I make sure I have a couple of flashlights, hand sanitizer, toilet paper, small towels, wet wipes, a Swiss army knife, waterproof matches, bug spray, antihistamine ointment in case I get bitten, sun screen, sun glasses, easy but nutritious snack food (dried fruit and nuts, etc.), some canned food, instant soup mixes, a map of the area, a small hatchet for chopping wood, a pillow, a rain jacket, a sleeping bag, and some drinking water from home.

  3. Don't do it every time we put a tent up it pours down.We stay in a unit now its much drier and safer. You can still have a good time even if its raining this way.

  4. Depends a little on if your tent camping or in a nice trailer.  If you're in a trailer you don't need much besides what you'd take to a motel.

Wet wipes so you can clean up a bit if you don't have water readily available,  Baby wipes are a cheap option and they smell nice.  It's a good way to freshen up if you can't shower too.

Make sure your flashlight has good batteries.

Plenty of blankets if you're going up into the mountains it may be colder at night than you expect.

    Games to play.

Stuff to start a fire, newspaper, lighter, gloves
