What kind of success has anyone had with bifocal contacts?

Are they good for sports (like tennis)? Can you read well?

I am trying one trial one now, and they are so thin that I expect it to not last long before I tear it. I guess that is considered disposable.

I was using mono-vision (far out of one eye, near vision out of the other) contacts, but that is no longer giving me optimal vision.

  1. The bifocals will also give you FAR from "optimal" vision.  Have you considered switching to glasses, with two different prescriptions - one set you use for reading; another set for medium distance (like computer use) and a third, maybe, for distance enhancement?

  2. my mother uses bifocal contacts.  She reads, works out, drives, everything with them and she's fine.  Believe me, I would be hearing about it if the contacts didn't work perfectly.

  3. I use bifocal contact and have no problems with them, I can read and see distance ( not as far as with single vision- but who needs to see a mile away!) It was great to not have to wear reading glassed any more. ope this helps
