What kind of surf boards do they use at things like the flo rider or simulated waves?

  1. To me, they look more like a wakeboard without the bindings.  Look at the two pictures (the links below).  In the first one, you can see the board the kid in the upper left is holding while he's waiting in line, and also the kid sitting on the wall on the left side of the picture.  The second picture is another good one of the board up close.  

    The last link is the most informative.  It's got TONS of info on flowriding.


  2. The boards I've seen for Flowrider waves are short and egg shaped, similar to an over thick snowboard.  These are designed so you can drop and turn quickly with a short radius. Your turns are quick like skateboarding.

    For existing wave pools, like Typhoon Lagoon, or some of the newer pools going in, we generally use soft Surftech or similar longer boards. You also need a flexible rubber fin as a hard fin will hit the bottom a few times and get sanded down.
