  1. like a 5ft.10 al Merrick

  2. probably a somewhat longer funboard...nothing shorter than 7 and look for a wide tail

  3. 6'8 nsp.....

its a good compromise of having a long/shortboard, and is easy to start off with, but stays fun as u get better. itll also still be good as u get older, is not horribly expensive, and can do most shortboard maneuvers, while still being (almost) as stable and easy to paddle.

    3 fins

    width: 21"

    length: 6'8

    thickness: 3"

    weight: 5.11 kg

  4. you can get a fiberglass board just its easier to ride a thicker heavier board because of balance, just if you do get a fiber glass board, make sure its the same height because thats what your used to with balance and what not

  5. Hi there..we will first start with the board. The "best" board is any board that fits you the best.

    This depends on..

    1] skill

    2]weight

Since you're a 13 yr old girl that pretty much gives a good basic idea my daughter is 10 and surfs with me religiously...lol... Now SHE uses my old board which is  a 7'2"

"SHORTBOARD" it is a "SYNERGY" which is just the manufacturer's name. but anyhow her board is what you call a "tri-fin" setup..meaning three fins of course. The fins are the other factor you have to pay attention to.

Three fins are for a more stable ride for a beginner,it is easy to control on your turning and in the future this will be a pretty good setup for you to learn some tricks.. [ I bet you are excited to get a couple of tricks under your belt]

    Now I ride a "quad-fin" or 4 fins.

This setup is for intermediate and above skill levels...

they have just recently been tested by both ANDY and BRUCE IRONS..both are professional surfers surfing for a living. 4 fins will turn on a dime!  You know when you go to turn a skateboard all you do is tilt your weight starting at your feet in the direction you want to go..well so is surfing.

When you do this with a 4 fin setup you had better hold on because it will throw you face first in the surf!

Ok.., single fins are seen mainly what we call a 'Longboard'

Alongboard is also good starting point for a beginner.

    1]   they are more stabile

2]they will float you real high in the water..meaning it will hold you up in the water like if you were to hold a helium balloon and tie a small enough weight on it so that it just hangs in the air not moving upwards just floating still.

3]they are much wider so that you don't fell like a 4 year old on a 2" balance beam teetertottering all over to keep your balance.

Now as far as tails...that depends on the most common type of waves that you are gonna surf...

My daughter snd i both use boards that have  " PenTails"

But to give you an HONEST answer on tails...well i just do not know.

If you are gonna buy your board from a surfshop then get with the person and they are so helpful and will answer all of the questions you may have..One because they want to sell you a board , Two, because they know that if they pay close attention to your SPECIFIC NEEDS then they will get your future business and THAT is what matters the MOST to them..

Your future business to them means you will buy your board wax, leashes, logo stickers,rashgaurds,bathingsuits,etc...D...

you see what i mean? So get on a first name basis with your surfshop owner and he will lead you down a path of SURFING BLISS!!!!

Well i know this was a prety long reply but i hope that I have helped you in some way...Good luck!

this is not a link , you have to go there yourself
