What kind of surfboard is used to surf a Maverick wave, a long or short board?

It depends on the size of the wave at that time, but usually people use "a gun", which is a long and skinny short board used to get the speed necessary for catching the wave.

If I was shaping you one for a Maverick type wave.I would suggest a proportionaly longer board  based on your weight; good egg rails and a long (skinny) template... what we used to call a big wave board

they use something called a "GUN" its a longer sleeker version of s shortboard

"gun's" r best.. ask a surf shop or people who've surfed ther.

it all depends on the size if its huge then they normally use a gun if you go out there on a short board your most likly going to die,it gets pretty heavy out there.
