What kind of suv would you buy today?

I want one that gets good gas mileage and will last many miles over 100,000? 10points

Personally, I'd look for a station wagon like the Pontiac or Toyota that gives good mpg with stable performance.

Honda Element is one of the most reliable SUV's out there and it will average you about 24 mp.  Plus, it is very functional.

I used to get up to 27mpg on highway road trips.

The XTerra is a great SUV with terrible mileage.  A friend of mine averages about 18 mpg in his.

Either a 4 door wrangler or a Jeep commander. And if I could afford it a H2 would be sweet!

Well personally, i wouldnt buy an SUV, but if you're set on purchasing one, i'd suggest either a ford escape hybrid or a mercury mariner hybrid, since they will get the best gas mileage.

The Chevy Tahoe.  Because the 4X2 model gets 20mpg hwy.  That's incredible given it's size.  You can compare it to many midsize SUVs in fuel economy.

I would not buy an SUV Today. I would get a Crossover Vehicle. A Crossover is a more attractive SUV that is lower to the ground, and returns a better MPG.

With this said, I would get a Nissan Murano. The new Murano is far better than the first generation that was also a really good car. It is designed very well and the craftsmanship is magnificent in this car. Nissan is also a very reliable car company.

I have a Nissan Xterra and am very pleased. I'd get another one without a thought. I have had no major problems since buying in 2003 and get 19/23 MPG. The other SUV I really like is the Toyota FJ. Its a tiny bit bigger than the Xterra and gets 17/21 if I recall. Look up articles on edmunds.com for reviews etc. Excellent site

Ford Escape. My dad has one and he gets 25+ mpg and he hasn't had any problems with it. It's a good size, affordable, & awesome.
