What kind of syrian should I buy? help please!!

I know I am buying a syrian.

I'm having a bit of trouble deciding though.. I want a low mantenance, cute looking hamster.

Male or female? Shorthair or Longhair? What are the major differences between the male and female?

You want a male, they tend to be more friendly and females go into a season every four days where they stink. I think that short hairs are lower maintenance because longs hairs get food stuck in them and get all tangly and can get caught in something, then you have to brush it out. If you want a short hair, I suggest a golden hamster, a blackbear, or a panda bear. Hope I helped!

Petsmart only sells females where I live. I have had 4 females.  No problems.  Pick one you like.  Doesn't matter the color.

Well, when I went to pick out my syrian hamster, I held all of the hamsters. The hamsters that are orange-ish white are very jumpy. I chose the Panda hamster. I think that they are very cute! Then agian, all hamsters are cute! All hamsters are about the same mantenance level, except that you have to brush long-haired hamsters.

Well, some people say that male hamsters are nicer, but others like the girls because they don't have big testies.

I like short hair hamsters best. They are the lowest mantenance! If you were talking about personality-wise, they are both the same. I would say just go the the pet store and hold some hamsters and see which one appels to you!

I have a female shorthair, she is awesome! If you get a pretty fat and chubby female, there's a chance that she's pregnant. Which ever one you think is cuter, get it.

Black Bear Syrians are the nicest I've ever had. You should get a female because they aren't as stinky as males. Shorthair would be the best choice because you don't want to be grooming her all day.

I've had black bear, panda bear and golden syrians and for me, black bears are the best and they didn't need much attention and they are SUPER cute! I've read that black bear hamsters were great so I got one and they were right! It's your choice though.

Females smell a LITTLE more because they go into heat once every four days, and some people don't like to handle boys because of the size of their testicles.

As for hair length, that's your choice. Long hair may require some low mantience brushing, and may be prone to getting more hot, but there's no temperament difference between hair type.

I'd just go there and see which one you feel is 'cute', and buy it.
