What kind of tax i.d. number do I need to raise money for a class reunion?

I need to open a bank account to house fund raiser proceeds to benefit a class reunion. I do not know what kind of tax i.d. number I need or where to get one?

Do you plan on selling the class reunion? Why get a tax exempt number? It will gum up tax time for ya for one thing. Go buy what you need and set it all up. A fund raiser just requires a reasonable reason why on your tax return and how much you made.
