  1. Wikipedia will give you that answer and more ... check them out

  2. Horses aren't really folivores.

Folivores tend to have molars with high, shearing surfaces for shredding leaves, and peg-like incisors for tearing off vegetation.

Typical folivores would include white-tailed deer, okapi, koalas and sloths.

Horses are more grazers, grammivores with high crowned, grinding molars and large incisors for ripping off the high-silica, tough grasses.

  3. Most herbivores either have lophodont teeth (cusps forming ridges) or selenodont teeth (cusps forming crescents), usually high crowned.  Most also have a diastema (a big space between the canines and premolars).

The dental formulas are different for the different species - but are all written this way:

    It/Ib Ct/Cb Pt/Pb Mt/Mb

Where It = number of incisors on one side on the top jaw

Ib=number of incisors on one side on bottom

Ct=number of canines on one side on top

Cb=number of canines on one side on bottom

Pt=number of premolars on one side on top

Pb=number of premolars on one side on bottom

Mt=number of molars on one side on top

Mb=number of molars on one side on bottom

Horses have lophodont teeth that are high-crowned (hypsodont).  A horse's dental formula is:

    a) Temporary teeth

        3/3 0/0  3/3  0/0  (24 teeth total)

    b) Adult (permanent teeth)

        3/3  1/1   3 or 4/3  3/3  (40 or 42 teeth total) - females may lack canines

Although, I never thought of horses as folivores (I think of them more as grazers).  So, for  folivores/browsers, here is the dental formula for an adult giraffe:

    0/3 0/1 3/3 3/3 (32 teeth total)

    and for an adult koala:

    3/1 1/0 1/1  4/4. (30 teeth total)

    Hope that helps.
